Welcome to Henry Barnard School
August 30, 2011
Dear Families,
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Henry Barnard School, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the 2011-2012 school year. We have had a busy and productive summer preparing the building for your arrival on Tuesday, September 6, 2011!
We have a wonderful team of teachers in our newly formed Kindergarten-Second Grade Primary School. Their expertise in literacy, numeracy, home/school connections, and multi-sensory approaches to learning will enhance our child-centered environment. Please check our web site www.enfieldschools.org and click on Henry Barnard for teacher assignments.
At Henry Barnard School, we recognize parents to be their child’s first and most influential teacher. As partners, we utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to meet individual needs. All children are challenged to be critical thinkers, to develop their unique talents, and view themselves as life-long learners.
Your support is critical in this undertaking. By reading to your child each evening, sharing personal experiences, and encouraging a love for learning, you will help your child be successful within our diverse and changing society. Establish homework and bedtime routines early in the school year. Get to know your child’s teachers and communicate with them often.
Our PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization) and the BLC (Barnard Learning Center) are always looking for volunteers to help in many ways. Check our web site and get involved! Our “Open House” is September 26 from 6:30-7:30 P.M. This "Open House" is for parents only. Teachers will share some wonderful ideas to continue learning at home! We look forward to meeting you and sharing in the education of your child this year!
Sincerely,
Nancy Hayes
Principal
