    Welcome!

Dear Families,

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Henry Barnard School, it is my pleasure to welcome you all back for the 2009-2010 school year.  We have had a busy and productive summer preparing the building for your arrival on Thursday, September 3, 2009.

This summer we hired outstanding teachers to replace those transferred last year.  Their expertise will enhance our child-centered environments.  We are excited to have you meet them.  We encourage all parents to attend the curriculum night scheduled for September 9, 2009 to meet your child's teacher.

At Henry Barnard School, we recognize parents to be their child's first and most influential teacher.  As partners, we utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to meet individual needs.  All children are challenged to be critical thinkers, to develop their unique talents, and view themselves as life-long learners.

Your support is critical in this undertaking.  By reading to your child each evening, sharing personal experiences, and encouraging a love for learning, you will help your child be successful within our diverse and changing society.  Establish homework and bedtime routines early in the school year.  Get to know your child's teachers and communicate with them often.

The Barnard Learning Center will be available to students after school Monday-Friday from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  Please call 253-9935 to enroll your child.  This program provides students with additional activities that enhance their daily learning.  In addition to a structured homework time, some students receive tutoring to build their skills.  Students also learn about electronics, money management, arts & crafts, computer applications, science & nature, and sports & games.

Our PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization) and the BLC (Barnard Learning Center) are always looking for volunteers to help in many ways.  Check our web site often www.enfieldschools.org and get involved!  We look forward to meeting you and sharing in the education of your child this year!

Sincerely,

Nancy Hayes, Principal
